Campawan Curtain Falls; The Hidden Treasure

9:17 PM

Baganga is a first class municipality in the province of Davao OrientalPhilippines and it is politically subdivided into 18 barangays. “Campawan” is one of its barangays and its major attraction is the so-called "Curtain Falls". This falls was tagged to be the little version of Tinuy-an Falls of Bislig, Surigao del Sur, but smaller in scale. Its height is estimated to be 20 feet and its width is still unmeasured. Locals call it “kurtina” or curtain due to its appearance and huge curtain-like cascading water.

For many years, this waterfall was kept preserved but with its tourism potential, the road were widened and cleared giving the way for people who love to chase waterfalls to see its wonder. Unlike Aliwagwag Falls, the place remains its natural splendor with the absence of modern developments. It is also considered as Davao Region’s widest waterfall.

The location is a 30-minute butt-numbing ride from the Poblacion, or the downtown area of Baganga (more or less 18 kilometers from the town.). The most common means of transportation is the motorcycle or “habal-habal”. Normal rate in going to Barangay Campawasan is P200.00 only. You can also rent a van just like in our case.

A 5-minute walk past the boulders will lead you to the Curtain Falls. This hidden treasure is captivating yet I can say dangerous if you won't be extra careful; the place was surrounded with huge stones and it’s muddy and slippery. The trip going there was an adventure itself but it’s worth it.
With just P10 entrance fee and P100 rental fee for the cottages you can enjoy yourself with the scenic view right in front of you. You can also soothe your weary soul through its cold rushing water!
If you are planning to visit the eastcoast of the province, never forget to see the superb beauty of Curtain Falls Campawan.
